Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland with about 1 million people in the greater Zurich area, of which about 370,000 live in the city. Home to the country's largest airport with numerous international connections, Zurich is Switzerland's main commercial and industrial center.
ETH Zurich is the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland, and one of Europe's premier universities in the fields of Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science.
The FOSE symposium and the "Eiffel at 25" event will take place at the ETH main building (HG) in the Audi Max auditorium (Room F 30).
The ETH main building is located at Raemistrasse 5, just in front of the tram stop ETH/Universitätspital. To get there from the main train station Zurich HB, you can take tram number 6 heading to Zoo from stop Central (you have to cross the Bahnhofbrücke bridge) or from stop Bahnhofstrasse/HB (located in Bahnhofstrasse).

Here are some useful hints for your arrival in Zurich.
Travel from Zurich airport to the main train station: Trains to the city centre leave every 10 minutes and take about 10 minutes to reach the main train station Zurich HB. After reclaiming baggage, follow the railway station signs "Bahn/Railway" to ticket counters and machines. You need a valid ticket for 3 zones. Depending on your needs, you can buy a day ticket valid for 24 hours for all trams and buses. Trains to the city leave from platforms 3 and 4.
Several hotels in Zurich are offering discount rates for FOSE and "Eiffel at 25" participants. The discounts apply in the period 21-25 November 2010. Rooms can be booked at the discount prices only until 21 October 2010. Reservations made after this date will be charged at the normal prices of the respective hotels.

Alternatively you can also make reservations through the Zurich Tourist Office using the address below. When contacting them, make sure to mention that you belong to the group "FOSE 2010" (both for FOSE and "Eiffel at 25" attendees), otherwise you won't benefit from the discount room prices.
Lunches will be offered at the Dozentenfoyer, located on the top floor of the ETH main building (HG). Vouchers will be distributed. They are included in the registration fee. Also included are two coffee breaks per day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon).
The FOSE symposium dinner will take place on Monday, 22 November 2010, at the guildhall at Zunfthaus zur Waag, located at the Münster square in the heart of Zurich, and must be registered for separately.
An evening reception will be held for all "Eiffel at 25" participants on Wednesday, 24 November 2010. The reception is included in the "Eiffel at 25" registration fee.
Wireless Internet access will be available to all participants. Please choose the WLAN called 'public' in your network manager. After opening the browser you will be redirected to a log-in page where you will be asked to enter your credentials. These credentials will be written in the leaflet that will be handed to you at the registration desk. In case you need to access your organization's remote infrastructure (for example to send/receive emails) we kindly ask you to set up a VPN client.
